Matt and Nikki - Sneak Peek | La Crosse, WI, Wedding Photographers

Another quick sneak peek for you!

Matt and Nikki's wedding was a blast. It was a day filled with rain, a big wedding party, and conveniently -- a big party bus. It was really fun to hang out with them again and to meet their families and friends. And as always, there will be more story and pictures to come in a few weeks.

Kristen and Eric's Wedding :: Kenosha Wedding Photographer

In all honesty, there are weddings where the lighting (or lack therof) makes it very challenging to photograph and weddings where the lighting makes it very easy to photograph. Eric and Kristen's was wedding was definitely a case of the latter. Though they both live out in Seattle, WA, they're from Wisconsin, so they decided to get married on the beach in Kenosha, WI.

The wedding took place at the Southport Beach House on lake Michigan -- the sun was shining and it was a completely beautiful day. I absolutely love shooting outdoor weddings and I really had a great day with these guys. I was helped out by my long-time friend and excellent second shooter, Nicky Hacker. Oh, and if you didn't see their engagement pictures that I took in Washington state earlier this year, check them out because they were so fun to take, too!

Madison Club Wedding :: Brad + Emily

{So here's the start of my catch-up posts from my summer weddings. There will be many more to come!}

I had a blast photographing Emily & Brad's Wedding along with Brooke Collier, my second shooter. It was a very beautiful event and they are such a cute couple who were a lot of fun to be around, again (I shot their engagement session earlier in the year (down in Chicago)). From hearing their stories throughout the day as well as their guests talk about them it was evident that they were so in love with each other and I truly felt honored to be a part of their day.

Their ceremony took place at the Wisconsin State Capitol - Assembly Chamber and it was such a fun place to shoot at - great textures, arches, architecture... though I think I could shoot a dozen weddings or more there and STILL get lost in that building! It's so symmetrical and huge. Their reception was at the Madison Club which is, currently, one of my favorite places to shoot at. It's very classy and just a great venue for a wedding reception.

The ceremony took place in the Senate Chamber of the Capitol building. Its such a non-typical (but awesome) wedding spot and a beautiful room.

Kat + Jordan's Lambeau Field Wedding (Green Bay, WI)

It's always fun to be able to photograph a friend's wedding. Usually, it means we'll know a few names of parents and members of the bridal party in advance, and *almost* always, it means the couple will be pretty comfortable with us taking pictures right from the start. A huge plus. =)

During her college years, my wife, Kelly, spent 5 months in Granada, Spain with the bride, Kat. And although we hadn't seen her for a while, it was a privilege to be able to be an intimate part of Kat and Jordan's wedding day. Though they live in St. Louis, they got married in Green Bay, WI (where Kat grew up) and the reception was held at the Lambeau Field Atrium. We had a blast hanging out with these guys and it was fun to shoot our first wedding at the stadium!

Here are some of my favorites from the day:

Green Lake Wedding Photography :: Sarah and Mike's Wedding

Sarah and Mike's wedding was held at the Heidel House Resort in beautiful Green Lake, WI. These guys were by far the most "adventurous" bride and groom that I've had, to date. At least when it comes to bearing the cold...

Sarah and Mike did photos for over an hour in the mid-30 degree weather! I was especially amazed by Sarah, who was outside in the cold with nothing covering her arms most of the time! As you'll see in the photos, the sun was shining, but that's pretty deceitful, because it was only about 30 degrees outside.

It probably goes without saying, but I love taking pictures outside (yes, even when it's cold), so I'm grateful for couples who are willing to take even the smallest amount of time to get outside to take a few good shots with natural light. Thanks for being troopers, guys!

It was fun to get to know this couple, and it was cool having two girls in the bridal party who were my friends from high school (whom I hadn't seen for years, though!).

All this combined, along with a great location for the wedding, made for a really fun day.

Madison Club Wedding :: Kara + Paul

Since I've moved back to Wisconsin, I've been able to shoot a lot of Madison weddings - and most of them have taken place at beautiful locations that were all new to me. Kara and Paul got married at St. Bernard's Catholic Church and their reception was at the gorgeous Madison Club (right off State Street). But before we headed to either of these locations, we first met up at Olbrich Botanical Gardens (where Jan and Joe's wedding took place) to take some group shots, so I was actually familiar with that venue! It's a sweet spot for photos, that's for sure.

I did engagement photos for Kara and Paul, and it was great to see them again on their special day. I had a great time and had fun capturing the special moments of the day. Here are a few of my favorite shots:

Eau Claire Area Wedding at the Creamery :: Adria + Aaron's Wedding

Adria and Aaron were married in a tiny town just west of Eau Claire, WI at The Creamery - a beautiful bed and breakfast / restaurant / bakery / cafe. I dropped Kelly off at Adria's mom's house to take photos of the ladies for awhile, while I hung around with the guys for a bit. We could tell from the start that these two truly wanted to relax and enjoy their day, and Kelly and I both had a blast hanging out with them and getting to know them as we took a few photos, while they were getting ready.

The venue was beautiful, and their reception was mostly focused on sharing some awesome food and conversation with loved ones.

They definitely win the "by far most creative cake" award - I mean, not many couples can announce they're going to "cut the cheese" without blushing, right?

Thanks, guys, for letting us play a part in your beautiful and laid-back wedding day. We had a blast.
