My Baby Girl

On Tuesday, November 17th, my wife, Kelly, and I welcomed our baby girl, Willow Everleigh, into this world!
I'm so excited to have another little baby model available to me 24/7 and we're so enjoying having a newborn around again! However, the lack of sleep has made life a bit crazier, so I'm working frantically to keep up on all the editing and photos... =)

Emily and Aaron's Engagement Session (Readstown Photography)

I had such a fun afternoon hanging out with these guys around Emily's parents' house. We met up at the farm where their wedding is going to take place and there is some really great scenery there. We worked around some crazy weather! It was raining - yet sunny - at the same time. The leaves were close to their peak for the year, so they added some great splashes of color to the images.

Since Emily and Aaron are getting married in the same place, it was really fun to see what the land looks like - it's a beautiful location and I'm excited to see how they'll set it up for their wedding.

Kat + Jordan's Lambeau Field Wedding (Green Bay, WI)

It's always fun to be able to photograph a friend's wedding. Usually, it means we'll know a few names of parents and members of the bridal party in advance, and *almost* always, it means the couple will be pretty comfortable with us taking pictures right from the start. A huge plus. =)

During her college years, my wife, Kelly, spent 5 months in Granada, Spain with the bride, Kat. And although we hadn't seen her for a while, it was a privilege to be able to be an intimate part of Kat and Jordan's wedding day. Though they live in St. Louis, they got married in Green Bay, WI (where Kat grew up) and the reception was held at the Lambeau Field Atrium. We had a blast hanging out with these guys and it was fun to shoot our first wedding at the stadium!

Here are some of my favorites from the day:

Green Lake Wedding Photography :: Sarah and Mike's Wedding

Sarah and Mike's wedding was held at the Heidel House Resort in beautiful Green Lake, WI. These guys were by far the most "adventurous" bride and groom that I've had, to date. At least when it comes to bearing the cold...

Sarah and Mike did photos for over an hour in the mid-30 degree weather! I was especially amazed by Sarah, who was outside in the cold with nothing covering her arms most of the time! As you'll see in the photos, the sun was shining, but that's pretty deceitful, because it was only about 30 degrees outside.

It probably goes without saying, but I love taking pictures outside (yes, even when it's cold), so I'm grateful for couples who are willing to take even the smallest amount of time to get outside to take a few good shots with natural light. Thanks for being troopers, guys!

It was fun to get to know this couple, and it was cool having two girls in the bridal party who were my friends from high school (whom I hadn't seen for years, though!).

All this combined, along with a great location for the wedding, made for a really fun day.

Madison Club Wedding :: Kara + Paul

Since I've moved back to Wisconsin, I've been able to shoot a lot of Madison weddings - and most of them have taken place at beautiful locations that were all new to me. Kara and Paul got married at St. Bernard's Catholic Church and their reception was at the gorgeous Madison Club (right off State Street). But before we headed to either of these locations, we first met up at Olbrich Botanical Gardens (where Jan and Joe's wedding took place) to take some group shots, so I was actually familiar with that venue! It's a sweet spot for photos, that's for sure.

I did engagement photos for Kara and Paul, and it was great to see them again on their special day. I had a great time and had fun capturing the special moments of the day. Here are a few of my favorite shots:

Eau Claire Area Wedding at the Creamery :: Adria + Aaron's Wedding

Adria and Aaron were married in a tiny town just west of Eau Claire, WI at The Creamery - a beautiful bed and breakfast / restaurant / bakery / cafe. I dropped Kelly off at Adria's mom's house to take photos of the ladies for awhile, while I hung around with the guys for a bit. We could tell from the start that these two truly wanted to relax and enjoy their day, and Kelly and I both had a blast hanging out with them and getting to know them as we took a few photos, while they were getting ready.

The venue was beautiful, and their reception was mostly focused on sharing some awesome food and conversation with loved ones.

They definitely win the "by far most creative cake" award - I mean, not many couples can announce they're going to "cut the cheese" without blushing, right?

Thanks, guys, for letting us play a part in your beautiful and laid-back wedding day. We had a blast.

Madison Wedding at the Overture Center :: Monica + Alex

Monica and Alex celebrated their wedding on a very sunny day in July in Madison, WI. Monica was a stunning bride and Alex (along with his groomsmen) were looking pretty sharp, as well.

Their ceremony took place at Luther Memorial Church in Madison and the rest of the evening was celebrated at the Overture Center. It was amazing to see how far friends and family had traveled from in order to witness two people who are dear to them say their "I do's".

Below are some of my top favorites from their day. Once all the photos have uploaded to my online gallery, I'll be adding a link at the end of this post - in case you want to see even more images!

Jan and Joe's Wedding

It's always a little risky to have an outdoor wedding in Wisconsin - at any time of the year, really. But from a photographer's perspective, it is a risk that is totally worth taking because rain or shine your photos will be better!

Jan and Joe decided they would risk it. They got married at Olbrich Botanical Gardens in Madison in mid-July and from the time they arrived there, the dark clouds just sat overhead... waiting to pour down rain on the beautiful little white-chaired seating area they had set up. But believe it or not the rain waited until about 5 minutes after they were announced as husband and wife. Crazy!

Overall, it was a great day that Kelly and I were so glad to be a part of. Joe and Jan took us around downtown Madison to some of their favorite hangout spots as a couple so we could capture the memories while they were dressed in their wedding attire. It was one of those weddings that we can look back on with great memories, even though we were only the photographers. =)

Thanks, Jan and Joe!
